SHINGLES and you

Shingles (Herpes Zoster) is caused by the same virus which causes chickenpox. Most adults had chickenpox as children and their immune system has kept the virus dormant. However, as we age our immune system is not able to fight the virus as well, which can lead to the activation of the virus and shingles.

“I had chicken pox as a kid, I can’t get shingles… right?!”
